An Ounce of Prevention
All employees should be aware of the benefits available under the NYS Workers Compensation Law, as well as the basic rules and requirements for filing a workers’ compensation claim. Simple knowledge of how to file a workers’ compensation claim can prevent many common problems that injured workers face in getting the benefits they deserve later on. As they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and many problems arise in claims due to the injured workers’ not knowing about Workers’ Compensation and the laws that determine what, if any, benefits the injured worker is eligible for.
Our law firm practices in the areas of NYS Workers’ Compensation law, Social Security Disability law, and NYS Disability Retirement. We currently represent members of many different unions in the capital district, including Albany County police and corrections officers, CDTA employees, and electricians and other construction trade practitioners. In fact, we currently represent some of your members, too.
We routinely give presentations to union members at meetings arranged by the unions as a benefit to their members. What we have found is that these meetings provide valuable information to members, preventing mistakes that later serve to reduce or eliminate the benefits that members are entitled to under the law. This has helped the labor unions as well as the members, since we add value to the union membership by providing information and guidance not conveniently available elsewhere.
We only represent injured workers. Although many of the attorneys at our firm have represented insurance companies in the past, we focus our skills and experience exclusively on helping injured workers receive all of the benefits they are entitled to. We take a great deal of pride in providing exceptional representation, not only from a legal expertise perspective, but also from a human perspective.
I would love the opportunity to speak with you about presenting our firm as an additional resource to your members. Please feel free to contact me at your convenience. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
