James D. Oppy
James D. Oppy earned a B.A. in Philosophy from SUNY at New Paltz in 1995, and went on to enroll in a joint J.D./M.B.A. program offered by Union Graduate College and Albany Law School, graduating in 2002. After working for General Electric Power Systems, he moved to New York City and served as general counsel for a not-for-profit corporation. Since moving back upstate he has worked for private firms, primarily as a litigator, and focuses exclusively on workers’ compensation, New York State Disability Retirement and Social Security Disability.
Jim is a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Injured Workers Bar Association, the St. Lawrence and Albany County Bar Associations, and is admitted to practice before all New York State Courts and the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York.
Jim lives in Guilderland with his wife and three children, and enjoys yacht racing. He is a volunteer crew member aboard the New Netherlands Museum’s flagship Half Moon, a replica of a 17th century Dutch trader.
